We recently took a tour to the Pocosol Natural Reserve, and it was a really enjoyable experience. The ride from La Fortuna to the reserve took about an hour, and when we arrived, we met our guide, Royvin. He was fantastic throughout the entire hike, showing us an incredible variety of plants and insects and explaining the different birds we could hear singing along the way. We even saw a little group of capuchin monkeys and could hear howler monkeys in the distance. After about 1.5 hours, we arrived at a waterfall, which we observed from a platform. It was a peaceful spot, and the view was beautiful.
The hike back from the waterfall was a bit challenging, especially with all the stairs, but it was totally worth it. On the way back, we also stopped at some fumaroles, which were fascinating to see as a clear evidence of the volcanic activity beneath the reserve.
What made this tour even more special was having Royvin as our private guide. I'm not a big fan of group tours since I like to ask a lot of questions and prefer to go at my own pace. Private tours can often be too expensive, so we felt really lucky to have found this one. It was a perfect balance, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience.
Highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore the beauty of Pocosol and enjoy the forest at their own pace!
